Randy Grover Cards Ace

Congratulations to Randy Grover for his hole-in-one on #14 on August 27, 2015!

The hole was up front, but he wasn't able to see the ball go in the hole from the tee, so he got a nice surprise when he reached the green.

So far, he has the only hole-in-one in a Men's Club event in either 2014 or 2015. Unless someone else adds another this season, Randy will pocket the entire $1,200 pot!

Przybyla Wins "Eric Slam" in Club Championship

Eric Przyblya won the Club Championship shortly after also winning the Senior Club Championship, earning him the prestigious honor some are calling the "Eric Slam".

Eric slept fitfully on a first day lead, then held on through blustery, autumn-like conditions to capture the win, and the trophy, in the Championship Flight. Travis Lester finished two strokes back to take second place, and Jeff Olson and Shawn Walsh finished another two strokes back to tie for third.

Other winners in the gusty two-to-three club wind were Jay Griep in the First Flight, Jeff Rak and Scott Billehus (tie) in the Second Flight, Jim Stjern in the Third Flight, Rick Guzik in the Fourth Flight and Larry Kitt in the Fifth Flight.

Brinker Claims Putting Championship

Brian Brinker carded a solid even par 90 to claim this year's Putting Championship honors. Pat Sharpe was nipping at his heels and claimed second place with a 91. Bill Lester took third with a 93.

Their prize winnings plus the player's pool made for an impressive payout in addition to their well-earned bragging rights.

Thanks to Larry and his staff for setting up another fun and challenging putting course.

Reminders About Scorecards and Posting Scores

scorecard filled in.jpg

1 - Be sure to TOTAL all score cards and include any adjustments. This is needed for all Thursday and Tournament cards.

2 - Be sure to have the DATE written on the cards. Cards without dates may not be posted.

3 - Be sure to include FIRST and LAST names on all cards.

4 - Both CHALLENGE MATCH scores and CLASSIC MATCH scores are to be posted and posted as (T) tournament scores. Score cards are to be placed in the score card box located in the pro shop. Be sure to write CHALLENGE MATCH or CLASSIC MATCH on the card to distinguish it from a regular round. If you don't know how to record "gimmies" or when someone drops out of a hole, either go to the MGA web site or ask one of the handicap committee members (Tony SImon, Dan Cowan, Pat Murray (chair), or one of the pros).

Jurek Cup Coming Soon

The Jurek Cup is an exciting Ryder Cup-style event pitting teams from Green Haven and The Ponds against each other. It will be held July 25-26. Saturday's round will be played at the Ponds, and Sunday's round at Green Haven.

We would like about 24-36 golfers to represent our club. Register by July 1 on the signup sheet outside the pro shop.

POST-EVENT UPDATE:
Unfortunately, the Ponds team took it to us this year. We'll get 'em next year!

Handi Handicap Hints

Beginning this Wednesday, April 1, 2015, all rounds of golf are to be recorded for handicap revision purposes. Handicap revisions are sent on the 1st and 15th of each month beginning April through October. Be sure to check your handicap each time you play. You can access handicaps through the computer in the proshop, check out the paper version in the alcove outside of the proshop, or get the MGA/USGA to email you your revision.

All scores posted must be adjusted according to your handicap. Below you will see the maximum score you can take on any given hole. You need to subtract before posting your score.

ALL 0 - 9 handicaps - double bogey is the most you can score on any hole
ALL 10 - 19  handicaps - 7 is the most you can score on any hole
ALL 20 - 29 handicaps - 8 is the most you can score on any hole
ALL 30 - 39 handicaps - 9 is the most you can score on any hole
ALL 40 - 49 handicaps - 10 is the most you can score on any hole

All registration maintenance has almost been completed on the Anoka Golf League roster. Any 2014 member who has not registered for 2015 will be unable to record scores - you will be inactivated. If you want to get in the Anoka Men's Club and be able to play in league events and tournaments and maintain a handicap, you must return your registration form and dues ASAP. If you do not register, you will be unable to record your scores. All registrations turned in after April 1 will be charged a $10 late fee.

If you have any questions regarding handicaps, contact Pat Murray. If you have any questions regarding registration, there are forms in the proshop.
